Karen took up fine art in the mid-90s and has learned by attending workshops and classes, particularly in pastel, watercolour, and acrylics. She has found success in group and juried shows, winning several awards and attaining the Master Pastel Artist of Canada designation (MPAC). Hers was a popular stop on Toronto’s Beach Studio Tour for several years, and she was a member of the RedEye Gallery in the Distillery District. A curious and versatile artist, she enjoys exploring different techniques, styles, and genres.
After a hiatus of a few years, Karen has thrown herself back into art with her project, 2016: A Year of Living Artfully. This involves making art of some kind every day this year and posting the results in her blog and on social media sites. Her goal is to improve her skills, find a wider audience, and gain traction in her art career.
